Keeping the Catcalls to a Minimum

Two days ago I dyed my golden locks. I'm still bitter about it, but I did it for good reason... Throughout my travels, especially in Spanish-speaking countries, being blonde gets you very noticed (and not in a good way). The constant cat-calls and stare-downs on the metro are enough to make any young woman feel uneasy. At times, it felt like I was walking around with a gigantic flashing arrow above my head that read "Tourist".

So.... as much as I fully love being rubia, I've decided it is a lot smarter to go brunette for a bit. Not only will I feel safer, I will look less like a foreigner. Although it's nice to stand-out occasionally, in these types of countries, you don't want to attract unnecessary attention. Which color do you prefer?
