Hola amigos!
It’s been a rather uneventful week for me here in Santiago. I wish I could tell you I spent my last week of freedom romping around the city, taking tours and exploring the unknown. The reality is, I needed some downtime to just be. I cooked some delicious food, went to Spanish class, read a really great book, had dinner with a friend and watched the entire season of Fuller House in 24 hours ;) But most importantly I slept, a lot. The countless hours of lounging will be well worth it in terms of the coming week.
This week it’s back to chaos. Us teachers begin tomorrow and our little kiddos start school on Wednesday. It will be my official first day of school as a teacher since I started mid-year last year and student taught in the spring. I’m already mentally preparing myself for the madness that will undoubtedy ensue.
Our youngsters in first grade have a difficult time adjusting to their new lives. For one thing, they’ve never gone a whole day of school before, but rather half days. They have their own desks now, materials, books and drastically different schedules. It’s going to be a difficult adjustment, but once they get into a routine, we’ll be smooth sailing.
I’m so not looking forward to waking up early 5 days a week again. In fact, I could actually cry thinking about it. I am looking forward to having a purpose again –something meaningful to fill my day with. Stay tuned to see how our first week of school goes, it’s sure to be interesting!

Laughable Moments:
I accidentally told my Spanish teacher my Christmas card arrived on January 40th.
I’ve recently taken up running. Every run I have gone on I have pet at least one stray dog. Afterwards, they decide to run alongside me for a while.
I walked by an impromptu swing-dancing circle on my way home from Spanish class –better than your average break dancing circle.
I cannot, cannot CANNOT deal with the slow walking here. People walk so slowly, I honestly think I’ll reach age 70 before I get to my destination. If you want to see steam come out of my ears, go grocery shopping with me and you’ll see what I mean.
