100 Day and Farewell Parties

Hola!

Hope everyone is doing well. This short week was actually pretty slow. We had a lot going on, and it didn’t help that I was still battling a bad cold. Dani was away at a workshop so it was just me with the kiddos this week. It took a lot of patience to deal with the craziness that occurs each day.

Friday was our 100th day of school so we had a day filled with fun activities. Who knows if it was the actual 100th day, but we’re in the ballpark so the whole first grade decided this was the day. Everyone had a blast that day. We did all sorts of 100 activities and I downloaded this app on my phone that shows you what you will look like when you are 100. The kids thought it was hilarious! My favorite pics were of the ones with missing teeth.

^^ Man I look gooood at 100.

On Friday night, we had a farewell party for two of the girls on our first grade team. Cata is going to study in Barcelona (don’t get me started on how jealous I am) and Javi is going to Australia where her husband will study. We are so sad to lose these two girls as they are part of our family. To say they are amazing would be an understatement. We will miss them so much.

The party was so much fun. Everyone made a delicious appetizers and brought drinks. It was nice to unwind after a hectic week. We gave both the girls group gifts. We even wrote out “report cards” for each one as a joke, which was hilarious to listen to. It was the perfect send-off.

^^My veggie platter was a hit!

^^ The best part of living in Chile is the people I have met

This weekend was relaxing and much needed. I accomplished a lot though in terms of finishing things I’ve been putting off. I started researching my upcoming travels which has me all excited now; more to come on that at a later date. I also started the process of renewing my visa.

León is doing awesome. He’s recovering quickly, it’s like he never even had surgery. Tomorrow he will get his stitches out and the cone should be coming off sometime this week. I even heard from León's original owner on Facebook. She sent me pics of his two sisters and his mom!

Laughable Moments:

  • On the way home in our carpool, we always play this game where you have to guess what is inside of my box and you get 3 clues. On my turn I said “it’s something tall, very big and you have a lot of them in Chile” the 2 year old interrupted and said “it’s a giraffe!”

  • I asked my co-worker if she takes the highway to work. She said sometimes she takes the highway when she doesn’t have her car. I was very confused throughout the conversation. I think she thought highway meant public transportation.

  • Our school is up in the mountains, so she was telling me how since we leave so early, theres never any traffic when she goes “upstairs”.

  • This week my students started playing this game called “Charlie Charlie”. It’s this stupid game where you cross two pencils ontop of each other and say Charlie Charlie. Charlie is supposed to mysteriously move the pencil. I had so many terrified kids coming up to me. That game is banned in our classroom now.

  • When León and I go walking at night I put a little bicycle light on him so cars can see him. People think it’s the most hilarious thing they’ve ever seen and on more than one occasion people have taken pictures of us.

  • My co-workers are always saying “exquisito” which basically means someone or something is “delicious”. I thought it was “es que cito” so when I said it in Spanish class, it took my Spanish teacher 5 minutes to realize what I was talking about.

That’s all for now. Have a lovely week y’all!
